  • Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center 45501 Helm Street Plymouth, MI, 48170 United States (map)

Overview

Policy is messy, it is not just black and white. So how do we address the grey in policy? This training is perfect for Michigan Works! Agency policy end user staff and policy implementers (non-management) and will introduce participants to the principles of federal, state, and local policymaking and establish a framework for policy development and implementation. Participants will walk away with an understanding of the why, how and who of policy.

Training Objectives

  • Introduce staff to the principles of federal, state, and local policymaking

  • Where to find policies

  • What is the policy hierarchy

  • How to read a policy

  • What does it say and what doesn’t it say

  • Implementing policy

  • Principles of asking good questions (internally)

  • Distinguishing between policy and procedure

  • The end-user generally wants procedures
