Demand-Driven Approach in a Job-Seeker’s Market: Essentials of BSP for Career Services

Description

The workforce system is “demand-driven.” What does that mean for job seekers?

Many workforce agencies operate via two departments: Career Services and Business Services. In Michigan, Career Services staff work with job seekers and students to understand their needs, navigate programs and resources, and obtain quality employment. Business Services staff (Business Solutions Professionals) work with employers to understand their needs, navigate programs and resources, and hire quality talent. The two departments are working toward common goals, but each can be confused about how the other aligns, especially when it comes to being “demand-driven.”

This course is for Career Services staff to better understand the Demand-Driven Approach and how it benefits their work with job seekers. A condensed version of the Certified Business Solutions Professional (BSP) program, attendees will learn the definition of Demand-Driven and the essentials of the BSP model, exploring real-life scenarios to recognize how it applies to them. The course will walk through a mapping of the synergies between the process of serving job seekers and the BSP process. Attendees will leave with a new perspective on how Career Services and Business Services affect each other and impact the workforce system as a whole

"This training is a perfect way to help frontline staff connect what they do to the business services we provide. Everyone plays a part in the demand driven system."- Michigan Works! Management

Please note that attendees will not get Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) from this course and cannot get certified as a BSP. However, those who participate in this course will earn a completion certificate.
