John L. Kaczynski

Executive Director of Governmental & Community Affairs,
Saginaw Valley State University

John Kaczynski serves as the Director of Governmental Affairs at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). In this role, he interfaces and lobbies on behalf of SVSU in Washington DC, Lansing and throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Prior to entering this role, he served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science and was Director of the Center for Public Policy and Service at SVSU. Since 2004, John has worked on various policy / planning projects for state & local government in Michigan. These projects have been completed for many various municipalities across Michigan, including Cadillac, Grand Haven, Saginaw, Bay City, Midland and Frankenmuth; as well as for Michigan State University, the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and for the Office of the Governor of Michigan.

Kaczynski currently serves as Vice-Chairperson of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Workforce and Talent Development Board, City of Frankenmuth Planning Commission, Kochville Township Downtown Development Authority Board, as well as on the boards for the Saginaw Chamber of Commerce, Great Lakes Bay Economic Club, Great Lakes Bay INFUSE and Youth Solutions, Inc.

Kaczynski holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He is also a graduate of the Michigan Political Leadership Program. He resides in Frankenmuth with his spouse, Martha and their son, George.
