Carrie has dedicated herself to caring for others as a Home Health Aide at Angelica's Place since 2009. This June, she took a bold step forward by enrolling in a registered apprenticeship program, opening the door to new educational opportunities, wage increases, and long-term stability in her career. To help Carrie along this path, Angelica's Place partnered with Macomb/St. Clair MichiganWorks! to provide essential supportive services. Through Michigan Works!, Carrie received much-needed transportation assistance, easing her financial burdens and ensuring she could reliably make it to her 12-hour shifts. Additionally, a new pair of shoes replaced her worn, hole-ridden ones, symbolizing hope and a fresh start during a challenging period. Carrie reflects on her journey with gratitude and resilience, crediting her success to “keeping a positive attitude” and the importance of self-reminders to stay focused. Her story is a testament to how support and determination can help overcome obstacles, creating a brighter future for herself and her family.
