Kimberly Wood

Controller, Mann Construction

Kimberly Wood is a lifelong resident of Harrison, Michigan. She graduated from Harrison High School and then attended Mid-Michigan College (MMC) where she received an Associate’s degree in Computer Programing. Upon receiving her degree, Wood went to work for MMC where she was employed for over fifteen years. Wood held many different positions while working at MMC; her final position being Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager. Her many responsibilities included bank reconciliations, reconciling the state and federal aid received by the college, working with outside auditors during their annual audit, preparing accounting reports for the Board of Trustees and preparing all bid packets for large college purchases.

After her time at MMC, Wood chose to embark on a new career. She took over the management of Grand Rental Station for the next three years where she hired staff, managed finances, and, when needed, worked in the store. After deciding to go back to her previous type of employment, Wood accepted a Controller’s position with Mann Construction where she has worked for the last twenty years. Her duties include preparing and filing federal, state, and local tax documents, preparing contract documents and drawing requests for their projects and other account duties.

While working at Mann Construction, Wood and her husband decided to purchase the Surrey House Restaurant & Saloon in Harrison. Her duties there included maintaining inventory, human resource management, and managing the books for five years.

Wood and her high school sweetheart, Brook Wood, have been married for 34 years and have three children: Garrett, Trent and Danielle, along with her new grandson, Jayce.

Wood has served on the Michigan Works! Region 7B Workforce Development Board for five years, with three of those years being on the Executive Steering Committee, where she has served as Vice Chair for the last two. She also served as a Board Member for the Harrison Chamber of Commerce for twelve years – two years as Director and ten years as Treasurer. Wood has volunteered with the Harrison Sports Boosters, Clare County Council on Aging, Harrison Woman’s Association, Kiwanis and Business Women’s Association of Harrison.
