Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fix my unemployment?

Because Michigan Works! is not the unemployment agency, we don’t have the expertise to answer your questions nor are we able to access your account.  It’s best if you to talk with someone from the Unemployment Insurance Agency, either by phone or the chat feature recently implemented on its website, to get the assistance and answers you are looking for.  Below are different ways to contact the Unemployment Insurance Agency:

Michigan Web Account Manager (MIWAM)

From your MiWAM account home page:

  • "Chat with an agent" during regular business hours on Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • "Send Unemployment a message" during non-business hours.

Unemployment Insurance Customer Service Line

Claimants can call 1-866-500-0017  Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • If you need a Spanish-speaking representative, wait until you hear the option in Spanish. For all other languages, the customer service representative will connect you to a translator for assistance.

  • If you are hearing impaired, TTY service is available at 1-866-366-0004

MARVIN

Call 1-866-638-3993 to certify for unemployment benefit payments Monday through Saturday between 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
