Mark Berdan

Executive Director, Michigan Works! Region 7B Consortium

Berdan’s experience spans 34 years in all areas of workforce development management and operations. This includes 23 years as Executive Director of Michigan Works! Region 7B Consortium in the six counties of Arenac, Clare, Gladwin, Iosco, Ogemaw and Roscommon. Michigan Works! Region 7B provides workforce, education, community development and economic solutions for businesses and communities.

Berdan has been appointed to various state boards including the Michigan Works! Association Steering Committee, Veterans and Michigan Rehabilitation Services and Prima Civitas.

He created and has been the President of Northern Transformation Corporation (NTC), a 501c(3) nonprofit, since its inception in 2010. NTC’s mission is to develop and nurture quality partnerships in the areas of economic development, entrepreneurship, education/training and employment/workforce development to enhance the quality of life for residents and businesses in our targeted communities.

One of Berdan's many accomplishments includes establishing NTC to provide economic development services in five of the six the counties he represents. He also secured funding to provide and administer the Offender Success Program in 19 counties in Michigan, including the Michigan Works! Region 7B area.

Through his work with Michigan Works! and NTC, Berdan has participated in an invitation-only national brainstorming conference of senior issues with the AARP Foundation and has been awarded several local and national awards for innovation. He is a graduate of Adrian College.
