Veterans' Employment and Training Service
If you are a servicemember or veteran looking for a civilian job, you should know that, depending on your occupational area, you may need a license or certificate in order to obtain a job in the civilian work force. This web site, UMET, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS), to make it easier for current and former military personnel to obtain the licenses and certifications they need to practice in the civilian work force.

Hiring Qualified Veterans - Documentation of Military Training and Experience
Educational institutions, credentialing boards, and employers can use a number of official military documents to verify and to assess military training and experiences accurately and efficiently. Many of these documents are comparable to college transcripts. These records provide detailed information about the amount and types of training and experience that a servicemember received during his or her military career. Credentialing boards and employers can easily request copies of these documents. Top of Page

Center for Adult Learning Educational Credentials
Lifelong learning is an important component of career growth and success and the military supports such growth through training, occupations, and coursework that help servicemembers build valuable knowledge and experience. Servicemembers invest much of their time in military training courses and in their occupations, which can help them earn academic credit and achieve degrees from colleges or universities.
