Education, Training and Employment Information

Goodwill Industries - Goodwill Industries Workforce Development Center offers employment services to job seekers as well as employers. Programs offered include: Work First, Workforce Investment Act (WIA), On-the-Job Training, Voucher Classroom Training, Employment Services/Labor Exchange, Mediated Services, Supported Employment/Vocational Rehabilitation Resources, Retail Training, Career Exploration and Evaluation, and Ticket-to-Work.

The Center provides access to Michigan Talent Bank, Veteran's Assistance, and Older Worker Services. Resume writing and composition assistance, use of Career Resource Library, and other supports to helping persons secure employment is also provided. GoodTemps, a temporary employment staffing service, is also conveniently located on site. We also assist employers with recruitment and placement services, vocational evaluations and testing, candidate application processing, Internet job posting, as well as provides information to employers of cost-saving job-training (OJT) and Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) programs.

Muskegon Heights - The agency provides a full range of employment and training services including general and vocational assessments designed to increase employability skills. The agency provides job placement, access to the Michigan Talent Bank, Adult, Community and Alternative education services as well as certified vocational services.

Orchard View - Certified One Stop ; Work First; WIA, including On-The-Job Training, Voucher Classroom Training; Employment Services/Labor Exchange; Mediated Services; Bi-lingual Labor Exchange Representative; On-Site Adult Basic Education, GED prep; English as a second language, Adult High School Completion; Veteran's Employment Specialist; Rehabilitation Services; Older Worker Specialist; Vocational Training; Customized Training; Substance Abuse Counseling;

White Lake - White Lake Workforce Development Service Center is a Member of the Michigan Works! Association. A Certified Michigan Works! Agency Offering Employment & Training Options for Job Seekers & Employers. We offer the WIA & Workfirst programs which include On-The-Job Training Reimbursement, ITA'S (Voucher Classroom Training), TRA / TAA, Mediated Services, Employee Recruitment & Testing, and On-Site Registration for Unemployment Benefits. In addition we have a fully staffed customer service friendly Labor Exchange facility offering access to the Internet based Job Search system through Michigan's Talent Bank, and The Michigan Career Portal. In our Labor Exchange you will find a Resource Center, which includes Labor Market Information and other materials. On site classes in Alternative & Adult Basic Education, GED Preparation & Testing, High School Completion, and Career Assessment and a Bi-Ligual staff member available to help you.

Our Service Center will provide information regarding Additional Programs, which could benefit your company; such as tax credit and training grant information.

White Lake Workforce Development Service Center partners with many other organizations and can provide referral assistance to Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Veterans Assistance, Older Worker Services, Community Education, Even Start & Family Literacy, Headstart Pre-school, WIA Youth Services, Enrichment Classes and other programs.

Muskegon Family Service Center - This agency provides customer friendly, easily accessible services. Employment services/labor exchange, Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Older Youth, NCP, NCR, On-The-Job Training, Voucher Classroom Training, Career counseling, Job Skills training and Bi-lingual Case Manager on staff. We also provide access to Michigan Talent Bank, Talent Freeway and Open Options, Mediated Services, Veteran's Assistance, Older Worker Services, Title II Enterprise Training funds, Dads Only Support Group and Diabetes Self-Management.

Oceana - Work First, Food Assisance Employment and Training, NCR, NCP programs; WIA; Employment Services/Labor Exchange; Mediated Services; Adult Basic Education, GED prep., ESL, Adult High School Completion; Community Education; Michigan Rehabilitation Services.

Child Care Services Information

Goodwill Industries - Various resources are available to assist with problem solving child care issues. We work with the Children's Resource Network/4C for resources and referrals as well as private providers. A current list of childcare resources is available. Please call 231-739-9010 for information.

Muskegon Heights - Available resources for assisting with day care include:
Kiddie University, 2920 Hoyt
Amigo's Day Care, 2101 Peck St.
Holy Trinity Child Care, 2140 Valley St.
Caring Hands Day Care, 440 E. Sherman Blvd.

Orchard View - Childcare is available for children ages 2 weeks - 12 years; Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 6:00 am - 11:30 pm; An after school program is funded through Century 21 Grant.

White Lake - White Lake Workforce Development Service Center will provide information & access to Children's Resource Network/4C's referrals.

We provide a Friendly, Highly Trained, Professional Staff to care for your Children ages 2 weeks through 12 years of age through our Kids Stop Childcare Program. This includes before and after school wrap around care from 6:30am - 6:00pm. Additional referrals can be provided upon request.

Muskegon Family Service Center - Information for quality childcare is provided on site by Children's Resource Network/4C's representatives. Childcare information for all shifts is provided.

Oceana - Information for Childcare is available and referral provided.

Transportation Services Information

Goodwill Industries - A variety of private and public transportation information and providers is available by calling 231-739-9010. Support services for eligible individuals may also be available.

Muskegon Heights - Available resources for assisting with transportation include: Harris Transportation

In the Black Transportation

Orchard View - OVWDC employs two CDL operators and owns a bus and a van which provides door-to-door transportation to participants; Public transportation is also available.

White Lake - White Lake Workforce Development Service will provide to eligible Workfirst clients, Quality Public Transportation assistance through our Drivers Services program. Additional transportation information will be provided by calling the Service Center at 231-893-1091.

Muskegon Family Service Center - This agency owns a van, which we use to provide transportation for participants. Public transportation system is easily accessible. Support services for assisting qualified individuals includes taxicabs and private transportation services.

Oceana - Information for Transportation is available and referral provided.

Job Fairs and Events Information

Goodwill Industries - Monthly job fairs are held for a variety of employment opportunities. Please call 231-739-9010 for updated schedule of events.

Muskegon Heights - US Census Testing Site and a variety of other job fairs which are periodically being held.

Orchard View - On-Site employer specific job fairs, recruitment and assessment activities; Point of contact for application completion for several major companies in the Muskegon area.

White Lake - Job Fairs are held by Service Centers, and on-site employer assistance is available to screen and meet eligible employee candidates. Additional information is available by calling the Service Center at 231-893-1091.

Muskegon Family Service Center - Information, referrals and transportation provided to job fairs throughout the County on a monthly basis.

Oceana - Information and referral provided.
