This workshop expands upon the Bridges Out of Poverty workshop, based on the book Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities. Attendees continue to develop their awareness and understanding of language experience, cognitive issues, and barriers that impact change, as they relate to poverty.

Topics of discussion include mental models to communicate effectively, and ways to assist clients from poverty to learn quickly, explore options, and develop positive future outcomes.

During this training, Dreussi-Smith demonstrates the skills of mediation, relationship building, and mentoring. She additionally introduces strategies for changing program designs, policies, and procedures to improve outcomes. Attendees use case studies and an examination of the customer’s lifecycle to identify principles of change.
