Michigan Works! Association Request for Proposal Questions from Bidders:

1. VKG Associates, Inc. is located in Pennsylvania and has never worked with your agency, are there any special requirements we need to complete prior to responding to this RFP?

There are no special or additional requirements for out-of-state training providers 

2. In the RFP, it states that Vendors Q & A responses are located on the web site. Where is the link?

3. What is the maximum number of participants in each workshop?

Attendance varies depending upon the topic and presenters

4. Will the training occur in different locations?

Trainings are scheduled around the state

5. How is the training scheduled?  For example, three consecutive days a week.

Trainings are scheduled based on training needs. Offerings in the past have ranged from a single day of training to a three-day series

6. We are considering the conference presenter category; however, we do not see any information in the RFP about the conference.

A Request for Presentations will be sent out to Michigan Works! Agency directors. The Association does not have a Request for Presentations outside of the Michigan Works! System at this time

7. What is the conference theme or topic?

The 2010 Michigan Works! Conference theme has not been announced. Please continue to visit the Association’s Web site for updates

8. What are the Conference logistics, i.e., time, and date/s?

The 2010 Michigan Works! Conference will be held September 19 – 21, 2010 in Traverse City, MI. Schedules and agendas will be posted on the Association’s Web site

9. Is the training primarily targeted to Michigan Works staff, or do you typically include contractors or instructors in the target who may go out and teach others (like a train-the-trainer T3)?

The Michigan Works! Association training audience encompasses workforce development professionals from all aspects of the Michigan Works! System, along with staff from a wide range of State and local community partners.

10. For Technical Skills training such as MS Office, do you provide the facility and computer workstations?

Computer-based trainings have been scheduled in facilities with large computer labs.

11. What is the format, location, venue, and timeframe for your 2010 conference?

The 2010 Michigan Works! for People conference date, location, and venue information can be found on our website at http://michiganworks.org/news-events/events/event/229/. Please continue to visit the website for conference details and updates.

12. What is “One Stop” partners?

For the purpose of this RFP, partners are defined as the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth agencies, Department of Human Services, Department of Education, as well as many local and statewide community organizations with workforce development mandates.

13. How many staff (including leadership/technical/etc.) are at each center, on average?

Staffing levels at the service centers vary from two to over one hundred.

14. For a full day or half day class, what is the average size of a class?

Workshop registrations range between thirty – sixty per half day or full day of training.

15. When we price out our services, can we provide the delivery costs and a separate cost of materials per students (for items such as books, binders, handouts, student guides, etc)?

The Association typically produces training material on behalf of the training vendor from electronic masters. Trainers have the option of producing their training material in-house and will want to incorporate the cost of training materials in their half day or full day fee.

16. What do you expect to see under Section III, B TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE LINE ITEM BUDGET?

A clear line item budget that explains the overall cost of the proposer’s services, including costs associated with training development, training materials, travel and miscellaneous items.
