Workforce 101 (workshop)

“Workforce 101” provides a workforce development system orientation for Michigan Works! staff as well as an understanding of the fundamentals of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for board members and partners.

This workshop addresses the “why” and “how” of today’s system and should be considered a key component of professional development plans.

In addition to learning about history and policy initiatives, attendees gain an understanding of the following:

  • WIA key principles
  • System roles and responsibilities
  • The One-Stop environment
  • Service delivery strategy
  • Customer eligibility
  • Performance accountability

Presented By:
Carol Wargo, President, Workforce Dimensions, is a consultant and trainer with extensive experience providing training and technical assistance at the federal, state and local levels. 

Wargo recently served as a board member and two-term president of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals and is a graduate of the Human Resource Management and Organizational Development program at Bowling Green State University.

Additionally, Wargo is a certified instructor of the National Career Development Association’s Career Development Facilitator curriculum.
