Peacock Industries, a metal fabrication, welding and machining company and one of only three manufacturers in Lake County, needed support with ISO certification. Considered a “job shop,” the company does make a particular product, but instead, makes anything that their customer requires given the specifications.
Because there was not a certified quality program that existed at Peacock Industries, it was difficult for the company to acquire new business and maintain current customers, as a majority of contracts require ISO certification.
With support from Michigan Works!, Peacock Industries received training from the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center and was able to obtain ISO certification.
Effective integration of ISO 9001:2008 has not only allowed Peacock Industries to maintain its current customer base, but afforded an increase in opportunities for new market penetration, as holding this quality management system certification allows a strong position within the marketplace.
